God’s Sovereignty in Shalom – part 1

“God’s Sovereignty in Shalom”… you might need to read that a few times. Let it simmer just a bit and really pause to give thought regarding how God’s sovereignty, His hand, His perfect will is unceasingly at work, even in the midst of the world’s turmoil and chaos.

It’s all too easy to loose the peace of Christ, the peace of the Holy Spirit, which transcends all understanding, when our eyes are focused upon world events, and the overwhelming challenges and issues we often face on a personal level. For those being challenged with physical adversities, financial hardships, emotional fragility and spiritual lethargy, shalom is little more than a Hebrew word, rather than an ongoing personal experience.

However, while the world appears to spiral downward in increasing acts of evil and unrest, we must remember God’s Word, His sovereign authority above all and over all.

“Oh LORD of Hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all      the kingdoms of the earth, you have made heaven and earth.”  Isaiah 37:16

“And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having   determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him.”  Acts 17:26

What great comfort there is for us, knowing that no leader, no regime, no authority on earth exists apart from both God’s knowledge and permission. What He permits is always done with that, which he ordained before the foundations of the earth were created. All that we bear witness too in this present age, is leading towards the great day of God’s glory… which one day will be revealed and whereby every knee shall bow and every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is LORD!

It has been well said and we should all embrace:

“That when we are most uncertain of the immediate, we can be most certain of the ultimate.”

Shalom to you my friends!
