Abolishing The Accusations

Accusations, inflammatory insults and guilt upon guilt… Oh, how the enemy would love for us to live under such condemnation, fear and despair. But rest assured, that his attempts to discourage the believer in Christ are solely based upon lies and not facts. Let us examine the truth, the truth to be found in God’s Word… and the truth shall set us free!

If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” Romans 8:31-34 NIV

In looking to the first question of this passage, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” We must unpack the answer, which immediate follows the question

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

God the Father, in giving His Son Christ Jesus to die upon the cross for our sins, is undoubtedly the greatest gift ever given to mankind. And thereby, the greater gift of Christ’s life given for us, also includes all of the lesser gifts possessed by the Father.

We then look to the second question: “Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?” Is there any who brings charges against us before the throne of God? The answer is, yes. In turning to Revelation 12:10, we discover the Satan is called, “the accuser of our brothers.” What’s more, we discover, that in addition to being our accuser, Satan stands before the throne of God and accuses us “day and night.” Is there anyone who can rightfully lay a formal charge and accuse us before God, when God Himself has already justified us? Is there anyone who has the authority to condemn those who have already been declared fully pardoned once for all?

The answer is unequivocally, NO!

God is His unfailing love and unfathomable grace punished Christ on the cross so that He might justify us. God’s justification of us, declares us to be to be made perfect in Christ, while we are yet sinners by nature in our earthly bodies. And that is the sole reason, why no one has the authority to lay any charge, nor possess the ability to file any accusations against us. God the Father knows that all our sins have been laid upon His Son our Savior and those sins are gone forever. Oh, that we might cling to this truth at every moment, at every accusation, at every feeling of guilt or remorse for sins past… “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” Read that again my friends. “I will remember their sins no more.” No more, no more, never again!!!

No life that has ever been touched by the Holy Spirit and cleansed by the blood of Christ Jesus can ever be brought into condemnation or false accusation… God is perfectly satisfied with the death of His Son as full payment for our sins. God will never again look upon our sins and He will never listen to any accusation that involves us, whereby it might bring our eternal salvation, our everlasting security into jeopardy.

Oh, that we might stand upon the truth of God’s Word and live free of the accusations, unencumbered by the guilt brought on by the enemy, knowing we are eternally justified having been fully pardoned. Let us begin today, by resting upon God’s truth, abolishing the accusations, knowing that God already has done so for us. Amen!
